Azalea satsuki, botanical name rhododendron indicum, is a dense, semi-evergreen azalea, usually two to three feet tall, native to Japan.

The leaves are lanceolate to obovate, slightly toothed and shiny dark green above and pale below.

These leaves turn reddish in winter.

The flowers are lanceolate, red to dark red in color, and bloom in rolls in late May.
