Bay laurel, whose scientific name is laurus nobilis, is an evergreen shrub or small tree that varies in size and can reach 7 to 18 meters.
It is a large shrub with aromatic evergreen or bare (smooth) green leaves.
The leaves are about 6-12 cm long and 2-4 cm wide with intact (not jagged) edges.
Most commonly, its aromatic leaves are added whole to Italian pasta sauces.
Whole leaves are also used almost exclusively as a flavoring agent in food preparation.
