Black rbony, whose botanical name is diospyros ferrea, is a tree of the ebony family.
It is found from West Africa to India and Indochina, north to the Ryukyu Islands (southern Japan), east to the Malesia region, Australia, Melanesia, and Polynesia.
Although doubtful, there are reports that this tree is an important source of ebony.
