Bull bay, whose botanical name is magnolia grandiflora, is a tree of the magnolia family native to the southeastern United States.
Also known as southern magnolia, it is a medium to large evergreen tree that can grow up to 37 meters tall.
The leaves are simple, broadly ovate with fine margins. They are dark green in color and stiff and leathery.
The tree is known as bull bay because of its large leaves and because cattle have been reported to eat the leaves.
