Burning bush, whose botanical name is euonymus alatus, is a species of flowering plant in the Celastraceae family native to central and northern China, Japan, and Korea.
It is also known as winged spindle or winged euonymus, its stem is known for its four corkscrew protuberances or "wings" like those of the related Euonymus phellomanus.
The leaves are ovate-elliptic with acute tips, 2-7 cm long and 1-4 cm wide.
The fiery red color of the foliage in autumn and the bright pink or orange fruits make the burning shrub a popular garden and park ornamental.
