Canadian plum, scientific name prunus nigra, is a species of prunus native to eastern North America.
Also called Canada plum or black plum, it is a deciduous shrub or small tree growing up to 10 meters tall with a trunk up to 25 centimeters thick.
The leaves are simple, alternate, elliptic or obovate.
They are 5-12 cm long and 3-7 cm wide with a wedge-shaped, slightly heart-shaped or rounded base.
