The Chinese redbud, whose botanical name is cercis chinensis, is a member of the legume family, fabaceae.
This species is native to China and is usually found growing in shrub form.
When grown as a tree, the Chinese redbud can grow to a height of 15 meters and a trunk diameter of up to 50 centimeters.
The leaves are nearly circular, 6-14 cm long, and taper to a point at the tip.
