Fig with scientific name ficus, is a genus of about 850 species of mulberry trees, shrubs, vines, epiphytes, and semi epiphytes.
It is primarily an evergreen, shrub, and pantropical vine, although there are also deciduous species outside of the tropics.
Collectively known as figs or fig trees, they are native throughout the tropics, with some species extending into semi-warm temperate zones.
All figs have white to yellowish latex, twigs showing paired alate leaves, and steep lateral veins at the base of the leaves.
The figs has considerable cultural importance throughout the tropics, both as an object of worship and for its many practical uses.
