The plant usually grows to a height of 3 meters and has large, thick, leathery, glossy evergreen leaves arranged in an alternating pattern.
Depending on the species, the leaves vary from ovate to linear, to completely deeply leafy or wrinkled.
They also vary in color from green, white, purple, orange, yellow, red, and pink.
