The guava, whose botanical name is psidium guajava, is widely grown in tropical and subtropical regions around the world.

Fruits range in size from as small as an apricot to as large as a grapefruit.

From seed, guavas can usually flower and bear fruit within two to eight years.

Traditionally, guava has been used in medicine by many cultures in different parts of the world including Central America, the Caribbean, Africa, and Asia.
