Kentucky yellowwood, whose botanical name is cladrastis kentukea, is a species of cladrastis native to the southeastern United States.
Also called American yellowwood, it is a small to medium-sized deciduous tree 10 to 15 meters tall with smooth gray bark and a broad, rounded crown.
The leaves are pinnate and compound, 20 to 30 cm long, with 5 to 11 alternate leaflets. Each leaflet is broadly ovate with an acute tip, and the whole margin and underside are hairy.
Because of its attractive flowers, it is widely grown as an ornamental tree in many parts of the United States.
