Meadowsweet, whose botanical name is spiraea alba, is a narrow-leaved prairie shrub.

The leaves are glossy greenish yellow, oval or lance-shaped, with toothed margins.

These leaves turn yellow in the fall.

The branches are hard and yellowish brown.

And the brown fruits that remain after flowering are characteristic of the spiraea.
