Northern white cedar, eastern white cedar, or arborvitae, has the scientific name thuja occidentalis.

It is an evergreen coniferous tree in the cypress family Cupressaceae, and native to eastern Canada and much of the central and northeastern United States.

Thuja occidentalis is widely used in gardens, parks and cemeteries, especially as a decorative tree for curtains and fences.
