Pacific madrone, whose scientific name is arbutus menziesii, is a species of evergreen broadleaf tree in the ericaceae family.
The tree is native to the west coast region of North America, from British Columbia to California.
It is a tall evergreen tree that usually reaches a height of 10 to 25 meters, but can sometimes reach 30 meters.
The leaves are spirally arranged, thick and waxy in texture, elliptic in shape, with whole margins, 7 to 15 cm long and 4 to 8 cm wide. It is shiny dark green on top and light grayish green underneath.
Pacific madrone produces small white to pink bell-like flowers in spring and red berries in fall.
