The Peruvian apple cactus, whose botanical name is cereus repandus, is a large, upright, thorny, cylindrical cactus.
Also called giant club cactus, hedge cactus, cadushi (in Papiamento and Wayuunaiki), and kayush, it is found in South America.
It grows as a freestanding plant that often looks like a tree, with greenish-gray to blue cylindrical stems, often reaching 10 meters tall and 10 to 20 cm thick.
The Peruvian apple cactus is grown primarily as an ornamental plant, but has significant local culinary value.
