The white mulberry with the scientific name morus alba is a fast-growing, small to medium-sized mulberry tree that reaches a height of 10 to 20 meters.

It is also called common mulberry or silkworm mulberry because its leaves are a favorite food of silkworms.

On strong young shoots, the leaves are deeply lobed and complex, with rounded lobes that can be up to 30 cm long.

In China, cultivation of the white mulberry began over 4,700 years ago for sericulture and was introduced to many countries.
