Rose mallow, whose scientific name is hibiscus syriacus, is a species of flowering plant in the mallow family.
It is a hardy deciduous shrub also known as rose of Sharon (especially in North America), Syrian ketmia, or shrub althea.
The plant is upright vase-shaped, up to 2-4 meters tall, and produces large trumpet-shaped flowers with prominent white stamens with yellow tips.
The leaves are usually green or yellow-green, alternate, broadly ovate with palmate veins and three distinct leaflets with coarsely serrated edges.
