Shrubby blue sage, whose botanical name is salvia ballotiflora, is a species of flowering plant in the lamiaceae family.

It is also known as mejorana and is native to Texas and northeastern and central Mexico in the United States.

This plant is a half spreading shrub, growing 1.2 to 1.8 m tall.

The leaves are ovate, 1.5 to 3.8 cm long, with serrated or wavy margins.

The upper and lower surfaces of the leaves have trichomes that give them a rough texture.
