Spindle, scientific name euonymus europaeus, is a species of flowering plant in the family celastraceae.
Also called European spindle or common spindle, it is native to most of Europe.
It is an underground shrub or small tree, usually 3-6 m tall, sometimes up to 10 m, with a trunk up to 20 cm thick.
The leaves are opposite, lanceolate to elliptic, and have finely serrated edges.
