Winter daphne, known scientifically as daphne odora, is a species of flowering plant in the thymelaeaceae family. This plant originated in China and spread to Japan and Korea.
In Japan, this plant is known as "jinchoge". While in Korea, this plant is also poetically referred to as "chullihyang". This refers to the scent of the leaves, meaning the fragrance of a thousand miles.
It is characterized as an evergreen shrub that produces fragrant, fleshy, pale pink flowers with four spreading leaves on each and glossy foliage.
