The Struggle of a Hardstuck Top Laner in League of Legends
League of Legends is one of the most rewarding yet punishing games out there. It’s a game that tests your skills, your patience, and, most importantly, your ability to adapt. But what if you’re someone like me—a hardhead who loves the game but refuses to budge from their favorite playstyle? Welcome to my world: the hardstuck top laner life.
I’m not just any top laner. I’m the guy who picks fights even when the odds are stacked against me. I’ll take the 1v2 under my turret, even when my jungler is farming Krugs and my mid-laner is pinging “?” on the map. For me, it’s not about playing safe or scaling—I’m here to throw hands, dominate my lane, and make my presence known. But this mindset has kept me firmly planted in the depths of Iron and Bronze, and climbing out feels like a Herculean task.
Here’s the thing about being a hardstuck top laner: it’s not just the mechanics. It’s the decisions. I’ll admit it—I tunnel vision on the fight. Macro play? Rotations? Helping my team secure objectives? Nah, I’m too busy battling my lane opponent to the death over a single wave of minions.
And let’s talk about the teammates. Bronze and Iron are where teamwork goes to die. Your ADC might be farming while the enemy team takes Baron. Your support is probably wandering the jungle without wards. And your jungler? Let’s just say they’ve declared their independence from the map.
But despite all of this, I can’t stop playing. There’s something about League of Legends that keeps pulling me back. Maybe it’s the thrill of outplaying someone in a clutch 1v1. Maybe it’s the satisfaction of finally landing that perfect counterpick. Or maybe I’m just a glutton for punishment.
Every loss feels personal, every win feels like a championship, and every game teaches me something new—even if it’s just how stubborn I can be.
So here I am, still grinding, still trying to climb, still refusing to change my playstyle because, let’s face it, fighting in the top lane is what I love. I may be hardstuck, but this game has my heart, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
To all my fellow hardstuck players out there: keep fighting, keep improving, and, most importantly, keep having fun. We might be stuck in the depths now, but who knows? Maybe one day, we’ll find ourselves climbing out—not because we gave up who we are, but because we embraced it and made it work.
Until then, see you on the Rift.
