DNC emails leaked
MOM! The servers are leaking! Some leaks can’t be fixed by the local plumber. The Democratic National Convention (DNC) made headlines this weekend, with its juicy gossips and trolling activities via emails. The leaked email unraveled a bias against the then potential democratic nominee, Bernie Sanders, no relations with the famous Colonel Sanders, a fake Donald Trump craigslist ad and immature gossips.
Now that these emails are all over the place, Debbie Wasserman Schultz announced that she will be stepping down as chair of the DNC. In hindsight, the DNC probably should have listened to that Buzzfeed list.
No Blanket Ban for Russian Athletes
Who needs a blanket in the summer? …apparently the Russian Olympics team. With just weeks left before the start of the 2016 Summer Olympics, Russia finally received the green light for some of its athletes to compete. Russian officials allegedly allowed athletes to use performance-enhancing drugs to gain an edge over other athletes. While individual doping cases have been uncovered in the past, they were rarely as massive as scale.
Despite evidence of a state-sponsored system of doping, the IOC decided against an all-out blanket ban for Russian athletes. Instead, the athletes will now have to meet numerous requirements, including drug testing, before competing in the two weeks.
EU approves Monsanto’s genetically modified soybean
As if we don’t have enough gas already, the European Commission approved Monsanto’s new soybean following China’s footsteps. The beans, known as the Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybeans, are designed to tolerate dicamba and glyphosate herbicides, which helps farmers combat pesky weed on the field.
Although Monsanto and GMO had made a bad name for themselves in the past, these new soybeans can help improve overall yield, and increase global soy sauce production.
