When I was 8, my mom bought our first computer - but it didn't come with any games. So I thought I'd make some computer games. How hard could it be?
Turns out harder than I thought, but me checking out books on BASIC from the library and trying to write computer games when I was a kid started me on a lifelong path of continuous learning of how to be a better amateur developer.
I think most skills are learnable by almost anyone - but they often take a lot more time and effort than is immediately obvious. There's something to be said for some blithe overconfidence at the outset - hopefully by the time you figure out just how much work you have ahead of you, you're invested enough to keep at it.
Remember, a rule of thumb, 10,000 hours is the minimum you'll want to spend to be proficient. Some people have spent their entire lives in the pursuit of honing their art.
