One of the items on my “bucket list” is to have a home in Italy.
Why Italy? Well, when I was a teenager, there was a television show that was popular called “Everybody Loves Raymond”. One of the episodes was the entire family taking a trip to visit family in Italy. Debra (the wife) opened up a window in the home, and then the camera panned out to show the entire Italian coastline. It took my breath away. I was enthralled by seeing that scene and wanted to know more. I did some research and found out they were in Anguillara Sabazia.
Then during the Winter Olympics in Torino, the anchors did a tour of Italy from top to bottom, and again, my love for Italy grew. I made the decision to add going to Italy to my list.
But why just visit when you can spend time there?? That’s why my goal was changed to get an actual place there.
I have a LOT to learn about the culture, about the language, about politics and everything else. So in order to get myself ready, I have downloaded a language study app called Memrise. I have only gone through the first section, but I think I am going to enjoy learning Italian.
We should never stop learning, even as we grow. Our knowledge should continue to expand daily and should be shared with others. I know that it can be tiring to figure out new things. What brings you joy or interests you the most? The answer to this question will be what you become a student in - for life.
Check out multiple sources to increase your knowledge in your chosen subject. Don’t just stick to online sources - the library, family, and friends may be able to bring insight to what you love.
When your learning stops...then your life stops. Do not let that happen.
Italy is a beautiful place. I spent some time in Sardinia, I like the lifestyle there, the focus on food and eating. I went to Venice for my fiftieth birthday - a fabulous city, it was lovely just to wander around. I hope you enjoy learning Italian.
