Ledger Nano S

My first purchase with bitcoin was a Ledger Nano S from “The Bitcoin Store” aka www.allthingsdecentral.com.

As this was my first purchase, it all seemed a bit obscure to me at the time. If I recall they are linked to bitpay, so when you go to pay with bitcoin, a pop up window for bitpay appears, you copy the address and use this address to send your bitcoin to from your wallet or exchange account. You get 15min to make the payment and there’s a countdown clock in the bitpay window. When you send the bitcoin required, within a few min, bitpay will confirm your payment has been made. You will have to wait longer, usually 6 confirmations to get email of confirmed purchase. In this case I did have to wait about 7-8 weeks for my ledger nano s(LNS) as demand for this device is high right now. When I did receive it I was surprised to discover how it works. So first of all you set it up with your pin and record your multi word pass phrase to a paper card for safe keeping. This is done while LNS is connected to your computer. I set up my LNS with chrome wallets which you will need to download to your PC. I also use it with MyEtherWallet.com (MEW). I store btc, eth and multiple ethereum based tokens. There is 3-4 little crypto wallet access apps on LNS, this is as much as you can have on it at any one time. You need to delete apps before you can add others. This can be done through the chrome wallet manager downloaded to your PC. They key thing to remember about the LNS and it might seem obvious but to others it might be something they didn’t know and that is that the LNS is just a form of key to your wallets. Your crypto will be stored on the blockchain, your wallet allows you to see and transact with your crypto and the LNS allows only you to access those wallets. So far I have found using the LNS a bit confusing at first, but now I really like using it, and I feel more secure in doing so. If anyone out there is using other methods to store your crypto, I’d love to hear about them. Follow me if you are a crypto enthusiast like myself and I’ll gladly follow you back
