This video shows in a relaxed way the ease of assembly of a Lego City 60139 Mobile Command Center.

Between the 1960s and the 1990s, Lego collaborated with Royal Dutch Shell to allow the use of the Shell brand on certain products.
In 1981, the second-generation Lego train came out. As before, these products are available in 4.5 V (battery-powered) or 12 V (mains-powered) models, but there are a wide range of accessories, including work lights, remote control points and signals, and decouplers.
The "Expert Builder" series matured in 1982 and became the "Technology" series. August 13 of that year was the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Lego Group; to commemorate this year, the book "50 Years of Games" was published. In the following year, the Duplo system was expanded to include younger audiences, especially baby suits. The new suit includes rattles and movable characters. In the following year, the Lego minifigure citizens redesigned the castle theme and obtained the kingdom of knights and horses. The lighting and sound installation came out in 1985.

These kits include a battery pack with lights, buzzers and other accessories, adding realism to Lego products. In the same year, the Lego Group's education department produced Technic Computer Control, an education system through which a computer can be used to control Technic robots, trucks and other electric models. Brazil's Manaus also acquired a Lego factory this year.
In 1984, Technic's production line was expanded and pneumatic components were added.

In August 1988, 38 children from 17 different countries participated in the first LEGO World Cup in Billund. In the same year, Lego Canada was established. In 1989, with the release of the Lego Pirates theme, the Lego series grew again, including various pirate ships, deserted islands and treasures. The Lego Group’s Educational Products Division was renamed Lego Gore this year. The name comes from the Greek word "didactic", which roughly means "the study of the learning process". Dr. Seymour Papert of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Computer Learning Laboratory was called the "Lego Professor of Learning and Research" after his work linking the Logo programming language with Lego products.

Until 1989, Lego minifigures had only the yellow skin color of a smiling face with standard expressions, although early prototypes had multiple skin tones and facial expressions. That year, the LEGO Group expanded the range of facial expressions (added them to the standard face with two eyes and a smile), and left beards and eye masks, sunglasses, lipstick and eyelashes, mainly used in the newly launched Lego Pirate theme The minifigures, occasionally Lego Castle, Lego City and Lego Space. Some older collectors were dissatisfied with the new facial expressions, saying they looked too "cartoon" or "clumsy" and liked the simplicity of two eyes and a smile. Especially for Lego Pirates, these more complex faces are combined with torso, headgear (helmet or hair) and accessories to create specific characters with background stories.
