Dear steemies,

I decided to join the contest proposed by @lianaakorbian
because I like drawing the nature.
The contest is I want YOU to draw a PLANT for me!

You suggest some plants to draw and I chose the PAPAVER SOMNIFERUM.

About this flower, I was immediately reminded
of the story of The wizard of Oz.
Do you remember it? In particular the film adaptation of the 1939 film starring Judy Garland as Dorothy. I liked when I was a kid and I love it still.

If you don't remember or you haven't seen it, you can read here the plot and other interesting information.

Dorothy, along with her dog Toto, Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion, faces a difficult journey to the Emerald City where the famous Wizard who can help her return home to Kansas.
At one point during the trip must cross a field of poppies. The wicked Witch of the East tries to stop them by putting a poison on the flowers ... the poison is a powerful sleeping pill!

Here you can see the scene from the film to find out
how they manage to overcome it.

Certainly the movie references the main feature of this plant...
Here you can read botanical information and use of it.

And now it's time to show you my drawing.

A curiosity

Did you know that poppy seeds which are used for cooking such as bread and some pastries are contained in the fruit of this poppy? It's true!

Thanks @lianaakorbian for this nice and interesting contest!
I hope you enjoyed it, see you soon
