Pride Month: June - What's that again?

First of all I would like to recommend @mariacaffrey's post: LGBTQ+ Talk: Pride month | Pride month history + 2018 Pride month calendar! There she writes very beautifully about the Pride Month and why it exists. So, I just want to treat it briefly and only superficially. Until this month, I didn't know that the Pride Month exists either!
June is Pride Month every year and it is the month that gives thought to the LGBTIQ community worldwide. It is celebrated in honor of the 1969 Stonewall rebellions in Manhattan. What exactly is this rebellion? You may know this from the third edition of the magazine, if not you can read it here: PRP-LGBT Magazine 03 | Gay Pride: The Christopher Street Day

So you realize the Pride Month has the same reason as Christopher Street Day. The Stonewall uprisings were a turning point for the LGBT community, now almost all over the world. In 1994, a coalition of educational organizations in the United States named October to the LGBT History Month.

The British police started a beautiful action in honor of the Pride Month and the parade there. They not only monitor the progression of the parades and demonstrations, they even join in the celebrations!

They express their solidarity with the LGBTQ community through rainbow-coloured applications on their uniforms.

It's just great. In 1969 there were often violent police raids against homosexual, transsexual or bisexual people. That the whole thing has changed in such a way, thats a huge step, that is worth being celebrated!

Also different companies like Costa Coffee or Apple celebrate the Pride Month with adapted products. I am not discussing whether or not this is just a marketing strategy. Nevertheless, it is nice that these companies dare to do so, there are also some people who are against it.

LGBT in Somalia..

Somalia is a federal state in the far east of Africa. Transitional governments that had been formed in 2000 were always unsuccessful, and at times it was not even possible to keep the capital under control. Since there were successes against radical Islamic militias in 2012, a joint Somali government could be elected for the first time and the reorganization of state structures could be started.

People who are LGBT have no rights there. Same sex intercourse is punished with a prison sentence of 3 months to 3 years. In some southern regions of Somalia, some Islamic courts have imposed a death penalty for this. This shows that these laws are not necessarily being observed. I almost suspect that there are far harsher sentences than 3 months in prison for homosexuals.

Adoption: Illegal
Same Sex Marriage: Illegal
Change gender: Illegal
Discrimination: Legal (no protection)
(-> Discrimination is allowed in all aspects, even by the state. So there's no protection, no rights if you're LGBT.)

Curation: Pride Month Edition

I think due to the Pride Month so many posts were posted under the #lgbt tag in the last 14 days! That's why there's something more I'd like you to know today.

Making Local History - First Pride Parade in My Town

Here @techslut writes about the first pride move in her city. She creates her post with great pictures and even a video, where you can see how happy everyone is! But she also describes the political aspect and how important this event was to her. Thank you for sharing this event with us @techslut!

Mein 2. Leben beginnt heute! Testo-Geburtstag am 7.6.18

In this beautiful article @asperger-kids writes about the beginning of her 2nd life. She got her first injection of testosterone and describes how important this was for her and how great she feels now. In the attached video you can really see her joy, really beautiful! So the transformation of her body is happening a bit more every day, I wish her all the best! @asperger-kids shares a lot of #lgbt posts in which she talks about her adaptation to men, make sure to drop by!

Taking Pride

I don't want to tell you too much. This post from @idenkcall is just really good. In this very well-written text, idenkcall writes about his own experience of not feeling in the right gender, or in no gender. "Being an agender means not feeling belonging to any gender."

I have a lot to do in my private life at the moment because I am moving, among other things. I therefore ask for your understanding that this edition is somewhat shorter and also came late. In the next weeks this will settle down again! :) But I curate all the time! ;)

@prp-lgbt is primarily intended to curate and share contributions on all possible LGBT topics. At the moment there are not many LGBT related posts and I want to change that with this account. I want to reward people who deal with this topic and show others that you don't have to hide here on Steemit! Steemit is a wonderful platform and I want to spread even more love!

If you want to be part of the team, feel free to write me a DM on Discord!

Hey there! Pride is booming and there are so many public LGBT events planned globally this summer! It's such a huge economy too. Wouldn't it be time for a cryptocurrency ready-made for the 'poud economy'? Have a look at my article ;-) and let me know what you think <3.

Living in Somalia must suck for LGBT people!
