If systemic racism is real and our criminal justice system really is stacked against people of color, we should be celebrating the fact that due process of law applies even when guilt is apparently evident.
The moment that we abandon due process in an attempt to expedite punishment on the basis of a mob's certitude based on the impression that they have of the accused is when we have failed.
This attitude is too prevalent in our culture. It's an attitude of despotism which, again, if systemic racism is real and this attitude takes hold in policy--the attitude that we can send to prison somebody who we don't like, whose ideas we find reprehensible, and do-so while circumventing due process, we'll do much more harm than good.
