Why are the only movements rebelling against the neoliberal establishment all either ultra-nationalistic or socialist/communist in nature?

No one seems to care about furthering liberal values anymore. The mainstream establishment centrists seem to believe that the current system is liberal enough, the far-right nationalists and far-left socialists despise the system for being too liberal. It doesn't seem to occur to anyone that maybe the problem with the system is that it's not liberal enough.

Democracy isn't failing because it's too individualistic, it's failing because modern democratic states don't apply their individualist values evenly, because too many people still have tribalist and conformist and collectivist mindsets.

Capitalism isn't failing because of competition, it's failing because it's not competitive enough, because it's become too centralized. Moving towards more tribalist, collectivist, centralized social modes isn't going to fix the problems with modern society, it's going to exacerbate them.
