Did Ron Paul Sellout? The Good Doctor Questioned on His Support of 22 Year Neocon Incumbent Lamar Smith

in libertarian •  7 years ago  (edited)

In this classic ambush journalism, John Bush asks Ron Paul why he asked his Central Texas supporters to support Congressman Lamar Smith, 22 year incumbent, two time bailout voter, neocon, and supporter of the patriot act. His answer is both honest and telling.

No, when you give your word, you keep it.

I really appreciated his response. It was honest. However, I don't like his political moves with some of the worst politicians out there. And what did he get in return? Audit the fed bill heard or something?

Well, for one thing (and I was thinking of this earlier while reading the post), most so-called libertarians or tea-party participants would never have come across these ideas (NAP, etc.) in everyday life, had it not been for Doctor Paul. He always said during his campaigns that he just wanted to spread the message, after all ... ?

And spread it well he did!

Ugh, politics as usual. Lots of cognitive dissonance here. It'd be nice to believe RP is immune to this sort of thing. This is why the two party system is the problem.
