Since people are moral agents, they have a privilege to be secure in their life, liberty, and property. These rights are not given by government or by society; they are intrinsic in the idea of people. It is intuitively right that people appreciate the security of such rights; the weight of clarification should lie with the individuals who might take those rights away.
