Heifer International Joined Libra Association

According to Heifer.Org, Heifer International is a global nonprofit based in the US, founded in 1944. The mission of Heifer International is to end hunger and poverty in a sustainable way by supporting and investing alongside local farmers and their communities.
8 Members Left Since Announcement
Last year, June 18, 2019, Facebook announced to establish the Libra Association and Libra Project. In the beginning, there were 28 members plan to join the Association.
However, there are a lot of concerns about compliance since the announcement.
Until January, 2020, 8 members left the Association including MasterCard, PayPal, eBay, Stripe, Booking Holdings, Mercado Pago and Vodafone. Those members are in the area of payment, e-commerce, online travel agency and telecommunication.
Some of these companies left because of pressure from regulators.
Things Still Going Forward
However, things changed this year.
This year, Libra Association claims they still try to launch the Libra project in 2020, 3 members join the Association till April 20, 2020. 3 members include e-commerce SaaS Shopify, crypto broker Tagomi and NPO Heifer International.
More ever, Libra Association Released White Paper Version 2 to Fit Regulations on April 16, 2020.
Regardless of the Libra project will in production or not, some related issues will be discussed. Issues include
- The possibility of Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs).
- Regulations for Global Stable Coins. (Include others like Tether or SAI … etc)
- Other global payment solutions.
