There's one major lesson that I have learned in my 23 years.

'What is that?'

You don't go cheap when investing in yourself.

A while back, I didn't have this mindset.

I was a cheap dude who was always looking for the latest deals.

Well, this was a very poor mindset to have with my haircuts.

I used to go to this place around my university that charged 10$ a haircut.

I was so excited!

Most barbers charged 15$.

What an awesome deal I was getting.

'That's awesome bro!'

But there was a big problem.

'Which was?'

Every barber was mediocre.

Every time I got a haircut, I had to come home & finish the rest of their job.

They always left a few parts of my hair uncut.

For some reason, I wouldn't notice it in the barbershop, but would notice when i'd come home.

After the 5th time of getting screwed over, I began calling them out for leaving parts uncut.

You would think they would be apologetic & finish the job!

But rather they'd roll their eyes, sigh, drag their feet, then finish the job.

Pretty much giving me an attitude for their incompetence.

After a while, I got fed up.

Decided the 5 bucks saved was not worth the hassle.

Also decided that I was going to see what the difference between a shitty barber & a good barber was.

The next day, I went to a 'hair stylist' (oh you fancy huh) and got my haircut there.

Each haircut was 20 bucks! Not 15 like I heard.

But oh well, let's see what the hype is about.

The guy cutting my hair was a dude named Ricky.

Ricky was hella precise.

Taking his time with my hair & making sure each part was cut to perfection.

He sort of looked like a scientist, so it was kinda funny too.

By the time I was done?

Haircut was flawless.

I gladly paid the 20 bucks, gave a hefty tip & left a satisfied customer.

I never looked back.

Time & time again, I learned this lesson.

When you pay for shitty service, you get shitty results.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

These are just the laws of life.

Yea, sometimes you may find some hidden deals.

But that's not the point of this article.

The point is having the right mindset when you are investing in yourself.

Think it was Warren Buffet who mentioned that the #1 investment in this world is you.

And this is a dude who runs a company which deals with investments.

That speaks volumes.

But there is a catch to this though.

You need to correctly invest in yourself.

Go all in.

Imagine if you took away the money you spent on stupid shit & poured it all back into yourself.

You'd be killing it vs being a cheap, mediocre tityboy.

I remember I used to buy all these rounds in bars with my other friends when I went out.

Waste of money.

There's a time to have fun, no question.

But ultimately, cutting that habit out allowed me to buy 2 new customized suits.

Small habits changes add up.

From here on out, make decisions for your life from the lens of your future self.

'My future self?'

Yea, the future self that you wish to be.

Not the person you are now.

This may seem a little scary at first.

But this paradigm shift gives you a renewed perceptive.

Also, you make decisions from an abundance mindset rather than a scarcity mindset.

Invest in yourself.

If you want to be the person who gives back one day, then take some time to be selfish now.

Become the asset to your own life.
