We're always urged to look forward, into the future and not the past. What has already happened, however, sometimes isn't all that easy to let go of. If you've had a painful experience, made a horrible mistake, had a whirlwind love affair or suffered the pain of losing a loved one, the past holds the best and worst memories that you may or may not want to let go of.
2017 has come to an end and in that lies the opportunity to let go of what haunts us. Letting go requires going back and reliving unpleasant experiences. It's a journey of the mind that can be uncomfortable and painful. We'll need to look at our own weaknesses squarely in the eye, acknowledge any mistakes and feel every bit of regret. We have to look back, hard, at the year. And only then can we let that all go.
A fresh start and a clean slate is how we can welcome 2018 with open arms. One of the best ways I've found to look at anything and everything in life is - "If it happened (good or bad), then it's meant to have happened."
