The WPA2 protocol that protects our WIFIs would seem to have a bug. This means that an attacker could have full access to our network in a matter of seconds. A few hours ago, the news spread. The explanation of how to proceed with the attack, which in jargon is called Exploit, is called KRACK, or Key Reinstallation Attacks, and the details will be published on the site www.krackattacks.com. If the news is true, this is basically a serious problem for all of us who use our WIFI network on a daily basis to shop on the Internet or otherwise surf the web. Considering the diffusion of WIFI routers today, the problem becomes global, and if on the one hand companies, for a security issue, as a general principle, would do well not to use wifi to move their sensitive data, on the other hand common users waiting for other information, would do well not to use this technology to make payments of any kind. Sites like Tom's Hardware speak of "a real apocalypse". This is because unlike in the past, security gaps in the WEP protocol were discovered today, routers have spread far more widely. The point is that not all common users may be aware of the problem and there is a risk that the fault will remain open on the vast majority of devices in circulation. So what needs to be done is to wait for the news to be made official and update the firmware of our home router as soon as possible, hoping that all manufacturers will hurry to remedy it.
