7 Ways to Stop Procrastination
Procrastination is a notorious thief of precious time. Developing a habit of procrastinating important things can drastically slow your own growth and development. Resultantly; it also messes with your productivity and credibility. Chronic procrastination can confine you to a fruitless life. Squandering away all your free time doing miscellaneous things like Facebooking, Tweeting, watching online videos, and searching/surfing the web aimlessly can stop you from achieving great things in life.
How can I overcome procrastination?
Here are 7 Ways of stopping Procrastination
Break bulk tasks into small manageable sections
Most people become procrastinators as a result of feeling overwhelmed by work overload. The best way of tackling this problem is by breaking your projects into easily manageable sections. Don’t hesitate to break those small tasks into even smaller phases if you still feel overwhelmed after applying this tactic. Start by making a "to do" list of things and approach each of them at a time. The beauty of breaking down your bulk tasks into smaller phases is that it makes them much simpler and manageable.
Change your environment
One incredible way of improving your productivity tremendously is through a change of environment. Your work environment should be able to make you feel inspired, focused and motivated. If you feel that your current environment is toxic, boring, or distractive and it makes it difficult for you to start working on your tasks, move to a different one. Don’t just stay in one location if it’s not doing you any justice. Change your environment and brace yourself for a pleasant surprise.
Set realistic deadlines
Did you know that you can overcome the habit of procrastination by creating an overall time with specific deadlines for all your projects? Well, setting realistic deadlines helps to make your life much easier and stress-free. With strict self-discipline, you can achieve all your set goals and deadlines without overwhelming yourself. The secret to making this method work effectively lies in ensuring that you finalize each task within the set time frame without failure to avoid feeling pressured to complete your tasks.
Eliminate your distractions
Distractions make it easy for us to waste precious time doing nothing. With that in mind, it is time to get rid of all things that make you procrastinate important tasks. Consider switching off your phone, television, disable your browser, disable the automatic email/social networks notification options or even work offline. Eliminating all distractions can improve your concentration, focus, motivation, creativity, and productivity significantly.

Avoid hanging around procrastinators
We all know what one rotten potato can do to the rest of the potatoes in a sack. The same thing applies in real life. Hanging around lazy or negative minded people is one simple way of becoming like them. Therefore, consider distancing yourself from people who don’t inspire you in any way. Hang around hard working or smart people who are focused, inspiring and encouraging to boost your productivity.

Talk to a trustworthy friend/colleague/relative
Many people go through dark clouds due to exclusivity. The best way of overcoming procrastination can be through talking about it with someone you trust. Any person living with integrity will not beat around the bush when it comes to being honest with you. You will be surprised by how much difference talking to a reliable third party can make for you. Tell them about your goals and the challenges you are facing in accomplishing them. Any good friend will encourage, inspire and motivate you to focus on achieving your set goals.
Just stop complaining and do it
Stop complaining about your tasks and just start working on them. Embrace the right attitude and mindset towards your tasks and make every minute count
In summary, tolerating the bad habit of procrastination can cripple your life in terms of becoming successful and achieving your set goals.
I hope these ideas can help you with procrastination!
