The Solution To All Problems - PATIENCE

in life •  6 years ago

It's a cool Friday evening. Mr Benz is watching his favourite team play in the Premier League whilst his wife serve him pop corn and a glass of water. Suddenly, Nissan, his son, ran to his dad holding a sheet of paper. Mr Benz reads out the content of the paper out angrily.

Mr Benz:
Overall performance
Subject Percentage
English 02%
Mathematics 21%
Literature in English 16%
Commerce 36%
Government 41%
Economics 06%

(He pulls Nissan close as he scolds him)
See how useless you are. I have told you times without number to focus on your academics but all you do is play Pro Evolution Soccer throughout the day. (He gives him a hard knock on his head) Useless boy.

Nissan: (dazed at his dad's reaction) But, dad?

Mr Benz: (Interrupts him) You will always have an excuse for your failure. What do you have to say? You are an irresponsible child that have brought shame to the family. Your teacher would we are all dumb like this in our family. I'm not sure I'm your biological father.(He reiterated) I'm not sure.

Nissan: Dad! I saw this inside your wardrobe while I was cleaning your room and your name is written on it. It's your report card during secondary school, sir. That's why I came to show you to ask if I should keep or dispose it.

Mr Benz: (Speechless) Errrm.. You know? (Stuttering) E...Edu...Education was not easy then and ... (He pretended as if he was coughing as he heads towards the rest room)

Exercise patience, don't overtake

A Chinese proverb summarises the above showdown between a man and his soon in this few lines -“One moment of patience may ward off great disaster. One moment of impatience may ruin a whole life." Patience is a virtue that every man must embrace in order to live a peaceful and fulfilling life. The plot of the text above could be likened to every part of human life where patience is key - between father and son, husband and wife, boyfriend and girlfriend, superior and subordinates, leaders and followers and so on.

There are some issues in life that are not always clear from the scratch and it takes a lot of patience and calmness to decipher the solution. Using the quick reaction of Mr Benz to the paper given to him by Nissan as an example, he lacks patience and concludes that the report card belong to his soon and made a lot of bad comments which he would not have made if he know that the report card is his own. In the end, he regret his action and turns a laughing stock in the presence of his little boy and wife. What a shame to a father doesn't take chill pills.

A person that lacks patience can destroy his or her destiny and bring down all that has been built for ages. That's how powerful lack of patience could be. Arnold Glasow said, "The key to everything is patience. You get the chicken by hatching the egg, not by smashing it.” Patience is the solution to every problem - be patient!
