Kao Ra is the highest spot of the Koh Phangan Island, located on the territory of Than Sadet. You can look over the environs of the island and in good weather conditions you will even see neighboring islands Koh Samui and Koh Tao.
Climbing to the top is distinguished by its inaccessibility, even though there is a relatively modest height – 630 m above sea. The long mountain path that leads to the view point, sometimes very abruptly picks up. A walk to the top requires good physical fitness and stamina, as well as the availability of local maps, guide and good weather. In the rainy season it is difficult to traverse the tourist route.
You can reach the view point in 2 hours on the average. The way back takes less time. The route can be planned so that you can visit a wonderful waterfall. There you can relax and wash. Do not forget about drinking water supplies and that the view point is located on the territory of the national park, so the trash should be taken with you.
We took our way to the top in the early morning at 5 am so the sun wouldn’t burn us down. First we gathered with friends at the bottom of our route, prepared and set for a little trip along with cameras.
The way to the top was really hard as I did it for the first time. You are like going up and sweeting all over but when you get there, it pays off. The most beautiful scenery I have ever seen opened for me there. I could even touch the clouds.
When we finally made our way, we found people sitting and watching that beauty. Those were two women from Germany and they said they had been living on the island for 15 years.
good trip, bro!
