The meaning of authenticity is familiar to all of us, we know being authentic is about having your inner being and your outer being in resonance...but:

  • what does it mean in real life?
  • what are the consequences of being inauthentic?
  • how can one be authentic?

You just got home, changed your clothes, grabbed something to drink, maybe a snack too and sar confortably at the TV, a friend calls you to meet him out or go to the gym or to the bar together, although you want to stay at home, but eventually you go...INauthentic

You work hard, a colleague that you like work less than you, then he/ she contenously ask you to help them with their work, and one time where you have to pick your spouse to go for a dinner together, they ask your help, and because you are a shy person you twitch your lips and go to help them and let your spouse waiting. INauthentic.

You are standing in the line, then a person show up asking you to cross over to the cash and pay for an item he got because he is in hurry, you dont let him although you are a good person, but you think everyone should wait in line like you did. INauthentic.

A lie is something you say that you created or twisted un you mind. When someone lies, the body reacts the same way as if the person is facing a stressful situation, giving the body all the hormones surge to trigger fight or flight reaction, that's why lie detectors rely on pulse rates, sweating and so. Being inauthentic is no different, on ehide something that he or she os not, the body labels it as a lie and then triggers the stress response. On the long run inauthenticity affects the body the same way stress does.

Dont fool people and most importantly dont fool yourself, practice saying NO...politely.

Sorry but i cant go with you, sorry i need to have good sleep, sorry i dont have the money...match you inside with your outside. Only then you will be a sample of a person in harmony.
