One month weigh in and other stuff, LOL

in life •  7 years ago

Greetings!!

Well this morning was my one month weigh in since I started on the high protein diet. I had to cut back on the protein shakes some because they started to upset my stomach. But in that first month I have learned how to up the protein quite a bit even without so many shakes. So, my protein level each day is still running between 120 and 150 grams of protein. I did blow the diet one day with pizza. I was just too exhausted to cook dinner. There were plenty of grams of protein in the cheese on the pizza but the carbs were of course high. It didn't seem to hurt me too much though, thankfully!!

So this morning I stepped on the dreaded scale at my usual time. I really expected either no loss or a slight gain because of the pizza I had. But much to my surprise I still continue to lose!! I am now down 23 lbs since I started the diet!! Yay, me!!

I think the best part of all this is I can actually see and feel the muscles in my legs again!! I know that sounds like such a small thing, but for several years I could not see or feel muscle. It was just a solid mass of fat and fluid. Speaking of fluid I am also seeing the lymphatic fluid move again!! This is really incredible!! Luckily the lymphedema had not progressed beyond stage one, so I do have a good chance of reversing it. It seems like it is doing just that too. I do not have nearly the fluid in my feet and legs I did a month ago. I think within another month I should be able to go back to regular wide width shoes rather than the triple wide I have had to wear the last 3 years. I still have lymphatic fluid build up in my upper body that I am starting to work on by doing more upper body exercises which will help the fluid start to move.

I know this might be too much information for some people but I do hope it is an encouragement to others who are fighting a similar battle. You can fight it and you can win!! Just don't give up!!

In other news we got a break in the heat wave and I got busy in the shop. I had a small load of greenware to fire for a special order so I dusted off my baby kiln and got it fired up. I have a big kiln and a baby one, LOL.

That little baby is over 30 years old but still fires like it is brand new. It really comes in handy!!

I have also been working on some other special orders and getting a load of glazed stuff ready to be fired.

These plates are also for a special order. They need clear glaze then will go in the kiln. I have a table full of glazed or nearly glazed items almost ready to go. Life is good!!

Aw that must be an amazing feeling! Keep on working at it, you're doing amazing! :)

Thanks Charlie!! It does feel amazing!! I am so happy to finally be on the right track!! Each day I feel improvement in my over all health. I know it will take quite a while yet but I will get there. :-)

If you are eating like a body builder (high protein) to lose weight it will only slow your progress, (and upset your stomach it seems). Not hating just saying, very happy for your progress none the less! :)

Hi Robin, and thanks!! I know what you are saying but no, I am not really eating like a body builder. As we age, (I'm old) we need more protein, especially if we have not been active and have lost a lot of muscle. As things progress I will be able to cut back on the protein. As for the upset stomach, I think I was just over doing it a bit on the protein shakes. I have cut back some and things are back in order again. Everything in life takes adjusting and this is no different. It's all good!! :-)
