Yesterday at the fuel station, after standing in a long queue to buy fuel, it finally got to my turn. The fuel attendant filled my jerry can and I stretched my left hand to give her the money while using my right hand to cover the jerry can. She took the money and asked rudely why i was giving her the money with my left hand, I didn't see anything wrong with that so I replied that there wasn't any wrong in giving with the left hand and it led to a short argument which didn't end well.
I remember also while I was still younger, when most of my uncles, aunts and other people who are older give me money to go errands for them, and I stretch my left hand to collect it they withdraw it reminding me that it is my right hand i should be stretching out. Using the left hand is mostly common with those that are left handed popularly known as (leftie).
Even during offering in church, giving with the left hand seem like a sacrilege or an abomination of some sort. People tend to look at you with disdain.
The question now I am asking is;
What's the wrong in giving or receiving money and other items from people with the left hand?
Why do people see it as disrespectful. Why do they react to it with so much disdain and irritation. There isn't any code, rule or law that says we shouldn't give or receive with the left. So I'm still yet to understand this mystery.
I once heard someone say that it's because the left hand is used to wipe clean the butt after visiting the toilet. What's that?? This is really funny. I mean that can't be possibly true, i don't even think everyone wipe their butt with their left.
So what's your thoughts on this?
Thanks to my audience and followers on steemit. Without you steeming would have been an horrible venture. I love you all.
My mum almost beat me one time because I took something from her with my left hand. Since that day I never tried it again.
But I don't understand all the discrimination against the use of left hand. I believed I am too exposed to be bounded by such cheap psychology.

Lovely write up you have here, it is unfortunate that the African culture has left us no choice to accept "the right hand rule " as the norm. Research has it that left handed people have a higher intelligent quotient that "right handed people " , if only we in africa can shelve culture into our pockets, the African community would be a better place.
#ambidextrous individuals would get away with the African culture in respect to you write up.
