First, let me set the scene for you! You pull into Wal-mart parking lot, yes the favorite place of everyone. lol. This nice looking SUV pulls in a parking place close by and the driver gets out, a younger guy with a little girl, later found out was his daughter and another guy about in his early twenties.
He sees me and the wife get out of the vehicle we drive a Ford Windstar and then he asks me if that is my Windstar. I said he had one and was wondering if I wanted another one for parts as he had one the same year he thought and would let it go cheap. So I get his name and number.
I call him a couple of days later and ask him to go out and look at it, he says "Sure let me give you my address and you can come to look at it now if you would like." Ok so we head out to go and look at it and we get there and it looks great for a 2002 Windstar I as him how much and he tells me $200.00 dollars. I ask him can I jump it off to see if it will start and drive so I can get it home. He tells me no problem, we just it off and it runs with no problems. He seemed shocked as he said he could not get it to jump off and run.
I tell him I will buy it for $200.00 dollars as I am looking for a vehicle for an older lady here in the community I live in and she had a budget that this would work for. I would help where I could bt changing out parts and fixing some things for her so she had a vehicle to drive around town here. He said that is ok, let him find the title and call him in a couple of days and we would get it done.
Then, all the excuses start pouring in, it is his mom's van and she is not sure she wants to sell now. She wants to have another vehicle around in case the SUV breaks down. Not sure if the daughter let her just use the SUV or has given it to her as she has not got the title for it to change it over into her name yet. Then he asks if we want to come over and BBQ and eat and have a get-together? Then it hits me the old bait and switch so he can make a friend. Then that is a bust because his mom is sick and has to cancel.
Come to find out he just wanted me to help him get things going around his house in the way of cars and trucks as he knows nothing about them and was just using my knowledge of getting something to run he could not do for himself. He has a couple of other vehicles also he cannot work on so he basically wanted free help to fix them or find out what was wrong with them.
The sad part of this all is that if he would have just asked for some help to fix them because he did not know how I would have helped him the best I could. There was no need for all the back and forth about selling the minivan to me. I try to help people where I can as I need all the good karma I can get in this life and it makes me happy to see people that are struggling get the help they need and realize that help requires nothing but asking sometimes.
Just another Wal-Mart story to add to the books I guess, this post is long enough so till the next post I will be done and I want to wish everyone a great day/night wherever they are in this world.
