Hi dear Steemians! Hope all are doing well today.
Just this week, I have struggle to get to sleep. I usually put on my sack not later than 10 in the evening and then wake up around 3 am or earlier.
Well, I believe that I am still adjusting with the latest changes at home. We’re on our 5th day that we no longer have a nanny, so I had to cook food for the kids before I prepare myself for work.
But have you experienced on the night when you get to sleep early but you wake up in a wee hour, you stare at the ceiling, your eyes wide open, when you’re trying to get back to sleep and it’s not cooperating anymore.
Do you also have struggle to get to sleep no matter how tired you are? Or do you wake up in the middle of the night and lie awake for hours? If so, you’re probably getting an insomnia.
That makes us two.
What is insomnia ? I have googled it and here’s the definition,
Insomnia is the inability to fall asleep or stay asleep at night, resulting in unrefreshing or non-restorative sleep.
Different people need different amounts of sleep, insomnia is defined by the quality of your sleep and how you feel after sleeping—not the number of hours you sleep or how quickly you doze off. Even if you’re spending eight hours a night in bed, if you feel drowsy and fatigued during the day, you may be experiencing insomnia.

Upon further readings, I was able to find helpful tips to relieve or treat insomnia without getting medical help.
Here it goes:
Set the bedroom. Keep your bedroom not so noisy, adjust light and its temperature condusive to sleep. You can try playing soft music or earplugs to mask outside noise, an open window or fan to keep the room cool, and blackout curtains or an eye mask to block out light.
Get a good matress. This can provide the support you need to sleep comfortably.
Stick to a regular sleep schedule. Try going to bed and getting up at the same time every day, including weekends. Get up at your usual time in the morning even if you’re tired to help you get back into rhythm.
Relaxation before bedtime. Set your mind to relax by refraining from checking messages on Facebook, getting big discussions or arguments with your family. Postpone these things until the morning.
Avoid naps. Napping during the day can make it more difficult to sleep at night. If you want, you can do it not later than 3pm.
Drinking too many liquids. By not drinking anything an hour before sleep and going to the bathroom several times as you get ready for bed, you can reduce the frequency you’ll wake up to go during the night.
Alcohol and caffeine. Try to avoid these to get good sleep.
Now that I’ve find ways on how to get some good sleep, I’ll work on this and I hope you also find these tips helpful.
That’s it for now, guys!
Til my next post,
Amy

When I have insomnia, I don't fight it, I embrace it. If God wants to keep me up on a given night, then I welcome it and try to pray mentally. What I don't do is get up and try to find a "solution" for my insomnia. I just let it pass through me and offer it up for the salvation of souls.
