Jamdani Fair Exhibition opens

Jamdani is our oldest heritage and the legacy of the famous muslin of the world. Muslin clothes made by handsome craftsmen of Bangladesh were once world famous. Thousands of years ago, muslin was used as a garment of Romeo's elite women in Egypt's ancient culture and heritage cover. Muslin lost the negative impact of the English rule, but in Jamdani version, we were able to keep the tradition of muslin. The Jamdani art has now been included as UNESCO declared World Heritage. This achievement glorifies the Bengali people. Now to keep Jamdani tradition in place, the minister urged all concerned to produce quality standard Jamdani industry, Amir Hossain Amu said. He said this while addressing the inauguration of Jamdani exhibition and fair at the initiative of Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation.

State Minister for Textiles and Jute Mirza Azam, MP Golam Dastagir Gazi, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Industries Mohammad Enamul Haque were present as special guests. Presided over the function, BSCIC Chemarman Mushtaq Hassan Mufti Iftekhar and the welcome speech were addressed by Bangladesh National Museum Director General Fazlul Latif Chowdhury.

The minister said in his speech, Jamdani is a hierarchical crafts. Several villages in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj district and some villages of Siddhirganj and Sonargaon upazilas have been making Jamdani for decades. BSCIC Jamdani has been working to improve the socioeconomic status of the craftsmen by providing structural support to the artisans in the same place for the development of the art and encouraging new generation, increasing production and marketing. Besides, a hat corner has been established for the purchase of Jamdani clothing. Every Thursday, weavers are getting the opportunity to sell jamdani clothes produced by weavers. He is hoping that the aim of this industrial city has been set in front of the aim and goal will be more aggressive in ensuring maximum utilization. Our government will go through all possible patronage in the promotion and quality of the industry.

State Minister for Textile and Jute Ministry said, "We did not know about the beginning of our Jamdani artwork, but with historical evidence from ancient history and many testimonies of tourists, it is known that our traditional muslin today is Jamdani. The result of artistic thinking and artistic thinking of the people of the particular region is being implemented by the development of rural industries of the Jamdani industry, in order to improve the socio-economic condition of the people.

Mirza Azam also said, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken several steps to keep our heritage. At one time our country had at least two million loom artists. And now it has come down to 3 lakhs. The Prime Minister has branded it with the names of different districts to hold our heritage. Jamalpur district branding is being done in Naksi Kantha, Jessore palm mud, Tangail Tangail sari and Faridpur are being branded with jute. Prior to saving the weavers, the Prime Minister gave funding of Tk 50 crore. The funds are now being increased to Tk 120 million. It's a very small interest. He said, Under the directive of the Prime Minister, during the tenure of this government, a project of Tk 2,000 crore will be started for weavers, which will be inaugurated within two years. There will be all kind of arrangements for artists' interests. After leaving the Padma Bridge, a place has been selected. The project will be implemented on 200 acres of land. From there only 20 minutes loom artists can come to Dhaka. At the time, he highlighted the development aspects of the present government.

Parliamentarian Golam Dastagir said in his speech that among the artistic works that Bengali can boast of is remarkable, Jamdani wore a distinct garment called Bangla Laalarna sari. And to glorify the cloth, it is painted in the art of art. Photographs of paintings and artists painted in the picture spread everywhere. Only artistic people can understand how proud of this art is.

Additional Industries Secretary said such exhibitions will be organized in Jamdani exhibition to help artisans exhibit products. Only the capital and the port city can be made in other big cities of the country, not limited to Chittagong. All of us have to work together to keep our culture holder Jamdani. Speaking on the occasion, BSCIC chairman said that Jamdani is doing basic work for establishing a modern technology based Jamdani industrial estate, with the establishment of sales and exhibition centers, to conduct training research activities on Jamdani for implementing the aims and objectives of establishing the industrial town.

After inaugurating the 10-day Jamdani exhibition, the Industries Minister visited various stalls. The Jamdani Exhibition is sitting with 33 stalls in Nalini Kant Bhattasali Gallery of the National Museum. The vendors said that Jamdani products are available from Jamdani for Tk 2,000 and up to 80 thousand taka. The proprietor of Adhunica Fashion, the government told Janakantha, starting from two stalls to Jamalani sari, worth 40 thousand taka. He has exhibited jamdani sarees throughout the country and abroad at different fair. Azizul Jamdani's proprietor Mohammad Azizul Huq said that instead of three thousand taka, there are 80 thousand taka Jamdani sari worth. Azizul said that he came from Noapara Rupganj Jamnapalli. Kawsar, a proprietor of Kawsar Jamdani Sattar, who came from Gammadiapalli said, Instead, Jamdani sari is available from two thousand taka to 80 thousand taka. He told that Jamdani saris he would showcase at the stall from two and a half lakh rupees from today.
