Six weeks ago, my wife and I decided to separate. At the time it seemed as though we were both about to go through some serious upheaval. After all, we have a little girl together, and she is our world
I don't hate my wife, and she doesn't hate me. In fact, we get on really well. We have a very similar sense of humour, and we make each other laugh. We both hold almost identical values and ideas on parenting, we have tons in common (we are both musicians and serious ones at that) and we share much in terms of outlook on life.
But something went amiss. And we found we were living in a place which neither of us wanted. I genuinely think we are going to be one of those couples who are much happier apart, but forever bound by one common thing...our daughter Amber, the most important person in our worlds.
So last night I was here back at my apartment (my new batchelor pad) and I'd just dropped Amber off back at her mummies after a lovely Daddy weekend with her.
And I tried something I hadn't tried for a long time. See, she wanted me to buy her milkshake. Nesquik chocolate milkshake, the powdered stuff that you just add the milk to. So when we were out yesterday, we bought some, and 4 pints of organic milk.
Now bear in mind I haven't drunk milk in ages. Don't have it in tea or coffee (because I drink proper stuff not that nasty cheap shit), and my wife is lactose intolerant, so we never had it in the house when we were together.
And I couldn't help myself. I just had to try it.
And OMG was I hooked. I really don't think I would have tried it had I still been living with my wife. But there I was, downing pints of the stuff. I couldn't get enough.
It was a moment of happiness, and suddenly I realised that life without the wife can bring so many new and interesting experiences, some which I haven't had for many years, and some which will be completely new.
I just thought I'd share that....

I noticed when my friends stay at my place they give me a weird look when I make myself my daily glass chocolate milk. I never stopped drinking it... I didn't realize people did...... that thing is delicious! GOOD FOR YOU!!!
Also, I'm glad the separation is in friendly terms and bringing both of you peace. That's so important for the 3 of you 👌
