A Minnesota woman is accused of killing her boyfriend in a failed YouTube hack where she fired a point-blank gun at a book he held at chest level.
Monalisa Pérez, 19, was charged Wednesday with unpredicted homicide for the death of Pedro Ruiz. The woman, who is pregnant, was released on bail of $ 7,000. The charge carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
According to the criminal complaint filed by Norman County Sheriff Jeremy Thornton, Ruiz wanted to make a video of the trick for YouTube. He said he fired at a distance of about 30 centimeters (one foot).
Hours before Tuesday night's incident, Perez said on Twitter: "Peter and I will probably record one of the most dangerous tricks ever made. Idea YOURS, NOT MINE ".
The lawsuit says that Ruiz placed a camera in the back of a vehicle and another on a portable ladder.
Ruiz's aunt, Lisa Primeau, told the Star-Tribune that her nephew was always looking for strong emotions "and giving a dangerous touch to everything he did."
Many of the videos on the Perez channel on YouTube are her and Ruiz spending jokes and performing tricks.
Primeau said that Ruiz liked firearms and had "so many." Authorities say the woman used a .50 caliber Desert Eagle pistol in the failed trick. The weapon is described in the portal of the seller Cabela like "one of the most powerful semiautomatic pistols in the world
