I’ve never saw a place like this before. Although I didn’t had the chance, until now, to see these marvelous place during spring or summer season, Măgura took my breath for life. The fairytale hills, the dense woods, the great sound of sheeps’s bells and the romanian traditional houses of Transvilvania will took you with 200 years in the back. And I promise you that you will never want to leave this place ever!
Soon, I found out that, eight years ago, a well known english writer, Arabella McIntyre Brown, left her city Liverpool to move to Măgura. „I'm still in love with this village! Originally I chose Măgura, not the country! But as time passed and I was able to visit more regions, to meet many people, to make friends, I came to love Romania altogether”, said Arabella McIntyre Brown in 2016.
And we can not blame her at all. You will have the same experience only by visiting this astonishing place. The road to Măgura is, also, part of the magic. Very close to famous Bran and at just 35 km away from Brașov, Măgura is located in the Nation Park Piatra Craiului. What makes this place so special is that being at a height of 1000 meters, the view is absolutely charming, away from city madness. The traditional houses are spread over thousands squares miles, giving the sensation of space. Another important thing to mention is that you will not see people crowding here, because the access to Măgura is a little bit hard, on serpentines, but it really worth’s it. You can reach Măgura with the car from Zărnești.
There are not many places to stay in Măgura, but you can find some very nice pensions (guest houses) with all you need, starting comfortable rooms, great meals and nice hosts.
PS: Bring you bikes too. You will have a fascinanting experience in dream landscape! :)
Have a great trip! :)
