The unemployed potato life

in life •  6 years ago  (edited)

I've been there. Now im here again.

I always tell myself that its just frictional unemployment and that i'll be able to find a job when i work hard. But then reality is not as simple as that.

When you're starting out, you'll have this ideal career life. I did. I was so focused on getting that life to the point that i ignored other opportunities. Opportunities that could've been a starting point or a catalyst to my career growth.

There's no problem with that. But then months of waiting would lead to desperateness. You'll settle for anything that is offered to you.

You can't bring back lost opportunities.

You should've relied on people. Most people get their starting point with the help of a referral. Now you're stuck in a situation where only you could help yourself.

You question what you really want, what life you envision and think hard every night.

But the problem now is that you don't even have connections to use.

You sell everything you could. You join everything you could. Anything that would support your job search phase.

Months of waiting would suck that motivation. Don't believe with the unending positivity of self-help books. It happens. It would suck that confidence too.

No matter how positive you're mindset is, it will try to push you into a life of desolation. What's your purpose in life then. Interviews are now seen as repetitive chores.

No matter how hard you try, the enthusiam is slowly diminishing.

You fight your way through this mess. That's what you could do to survive. You find ways. Life is a never-ending cycle of challenges. It never ends. That's what makes it interesting. How would you handle every point in this cycle?

Reality is bittersweet. Its up to you how you will taste the sweetness.
