[Forearm Extensor Release]

What is tennis elbow? 🎾

Tennis elbow a.k.a lateral epicondylitis is a condition where the outer part of the elbow 💪 becomes painful and tender💢. This is commonly due to the overexertion of the forearm extensor muscle group which has failed to heal🏥 due to repetitive use. And no, you don’t have to be a tennis player to get tennis elbow 💻🖊🛠 Common signs and symptoms of tennis elbow include (with ranging severity):

💥Pain + tenderness on the outer part of the elbow
💥Pain with gripping or even shaking hands
💥Pain may occasionally radiate down to the wrist and hand
💥Inability to hold heavy items

Give this release a go at home:

  1. Grab a tennis ball (softest), lacrosse ball (medium) or golf ball (hardest)
  2. Find a wall/door frame
  3. Place the ⚾️ on your extensor muscle group – Best way to find these muscles is to stretch out your fingers and flicker them up and down, you will see the muscles dancing 💃 in the forearm
  4. Extend your wrist and fingers (palm facing away from you)
  5. Apply pressure using the opposite hand
  6. Flex your wrist and fingers (palm facing towards you)
  7. Repeat🔃 for 10 repetitions, then move the ball further down the forearm and repeat. Do this 3 times.
